Sunday, June 13, 2004 Warning: I think I have caught the contagious DBB (Disguised Blog Bug). Those of you who love your blogs are best advised to refrain from a further reading. It all started when Jogi/Yogi started a word game. As if it wasn't enough of a blog sham, his affliction worsened to 'sentence a story'. Then risen from ashes Phoenix put up a word game on her blog. And now I am the latest victim. Unlike the Jogi and Phoenix, though, I have an idea of what this may entail and yet I choose to fall for it. Read a DBBed blog and you are infected. Comment and it intensifies to a 'carier stage, putting others at risk. The final blow is when DBB manifests itself as a blog entry. As here. Name: DBB (Disguised Blog Bug) Origins: Unknown First known case: Jogia's Blog Variations: Many, most common being a pseudo 'update' (Starts off as word game, moves to story level...) Risk Level: Contagiousness: High Infections to date: at least 15 reported and documented cases, on a steady rise. Caused by: an unhealthy pressure on the blogger to 'update' Afflicts: anyone who is familiar with the word 'blog': bloggers, blog readers, and blog commenters alike. Mode of transmission: DBB can be transmitted both online and offline, orally, verbally or visually. It appeals to all word warriors and pen pushers are at the greatest risk. Cure: None known but it is believed that a highly conscious effort is required to ward off DBB. And here is my variation of DBB: Caught it from: Both Jogia and Phoenix's blog, though I did not participate in their word games and just browsed by their DBB infected blogs. Risk to others: very high (DBB goes from strength to strength) Infections: to come Variation: Let's have a competition of making compound words: Here are two to start with Stumbo (stupid + dumb) Lupper (lunch + supper) |
Who, what, huh? Welcome to an unplugged dose of bordering on vicious diatribe. It is intelligent (but of course) and it is across the board and border. But never would it make a drab read. Blogging just got better, as Akvetcher and Aysh join verbal forces. the world hasn't seen the last of us yet. And the best is still to come. Convinced? Bookmark us already... The Archives
